Final Masters Recital

It's rare that someone gets to show what they love and enjoy to a room full of their closest friends and family, but last night I got that experience.  I've been in the Harp Performance Masters program at the University of Utah for the past two years. For my program I had to give two solo recitals, last night was my last and final one. I'm so relieved and thrilled to be done with my recital.  It flew by!  I know I was on stage for over an hour but it felt like minutes.  And I loved how I played.  What an amazing feeling to enjoy your performance instead of being nervous the entire time.  It's also bittersweet, I worked really hard to learn and memorize all that music.  Much of my focus has been on my recital that for so long was in the future.  And now it's over. I'm relieved that it went so well, but sad that it was my last hooray at the U of U.  I guess it's on to my next adventure...

Photo Shoot

I recently had a friend take some photos of my harp at the amazing McCune Mansion.  It was fun to get creative with angles and placement.  The photos with me didn't turn out so well, but I loved the ones of just my harp.  Enjoy!

December. What a month.

Besides being busy with Christmas parties, shopping, and being with my family it's also busy with recitals, weddings, and orchestra concerts. But I love it.

My students participated with a few recitals this month. At BYU we held a recital for all the harpists and their families. Everyone played so well, it makes me so proud. They also had an ensemble concert the next night and played amazing there too. For my private students we held a recital at a retirement home in Orem. What a treat it was for the residents of the home. They were so happy to have us play and what a great audience they were.

I am so proud of all my students. Everyone worked so hard to prepare and it was wonderful to hear them all perform.

American Harp Society

The American Harp Society held their 18th National Competition and 8th Summer Institute in Salt Lake City this year. It was an incredible chance to hear amazing harpists perform and also to sit in on some lectures on various topics. I had the opportunity to perform in one of the evening performances. The performance was comprised of many different ensembles. Another harpist and I played Maple Leaf Rag, Golliwogs Cake Walk, and Bach's Toccata and Fugue. It was so fun to be a part of the concert, and was even more exciting as there were many famous harpists in the audience.

Harpist for Hire

The music you choose for your wedding or special occasion is a direct reflection of your personal taste and style. It will set the scene, create the atmosphere, and highlight the joy of the special occasion. The elegance of harp music creates such an ambiance. With its classical beauty in both sight and sound, the harp is the perfect instrument to provide music for the special moments in your life.

As a harpist, I've been playing for weddings and other special events for over 1o years. My repertoire is extensive, and covers classical favorites, pop, jazz, broadway and new age. Every event is unique so I work with my clients to create a custom collection of music that fits their needs.
